Minutes:
Concerns and suggestions raised at the meeting included the following:
Â
Lead Petitioner
Â
- Zebra crossing needed without further delay to enable children attending Newnham School to safely cross Field End Road.
- Would prefer to see option 1 being implemented and referred to further crossings in Field End Road within 5 metres of a junction.
- Lack of a crossing in this part of Field End Road discourages parents walking their children to school.
- Option 1 is no better or worse than other crossings in Field End Road.
Â
Other Resident
Â
- Concern at lead petitioner supporting option 1 as the Metropolitan Police states that this option would be unsafe and would not be in support of this option.
- A zebra crossing is needed in this location due to the number of pedestrians crossing in this location.
- Option 2 is not a viable option as the bus stop cannot be moved.
- Option 3 addresses and resolves all the issues and would be happy for this option to proceed.
- There is an alternative option that would use the existing road island that is currently used as a crossing point and would not incur much cost to implement.
Â
Councillors Eddie Lavery and Michael White attended the meeting and spoke as Ward Councillors.
Â
Councillor Keith Burrows listened to the concerns of the petitioners and responded to the points raised. He stated that Various options had been considered and discussed over a long period of time and want to see a crossing installed as soon as possible at this point in Field End Road. The recommendation would enable officers to proceed in developing the preferred option, that being option 3.
Â
Resolved -Â
Â
That the Cabinet Member:
Â
1.
