\n\n2009-10 Budget Update
\nTo receive\nan update on the budgets for 2000-10.

\nThe Deputy\nManaging Director gave a presentation on the impact on the 2009/10 budget\nposition in light of the current economic downturn.
\n\n\n\n
The\npresentation focussed on the reduction in interest that the Council was likely\nto receive on its investments, together with the lack of income from services including\nplanning and parking.\u00c2\u00a0 It was also\nacknowledged that there could be more pressure on Council expenditure in areas\nsuch as housing and benefits.
\n\n\n\n
The Board\nfelt that it was important to keep any Council Tax rise to a maximum of 2.5%\nand urged other bodies e.g. police, fire authority and parish councils to keep\ntheir rises to a minimum also.\u00c2\u00a0
\n\n\n\n
It was\nfurther suggested that the Council should do all it could to help local\nresidents by encouraging tourism and visitors to the district which would, in\nturn, help the local economy.

It was\nfurther discussed that it was necessary for the Executive Board to endorse the\nchanges recently made by the Deputy Managing Director, in consultation with the\nLeader and Portfolio Holder for Resources, to the Council\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s fees and charges in\nlight of the recent reduction in VAT rate to 15%.

\nConsideration\nwas given to the report of the Acting Property Manager requesting agreement for\nthe Council to dispose of the freehold interest in surplus land in Evesham for\nsocial housing.

It was\nnoted that a planning application for the site had been received and deferred\nat the last Development Control Committee, however, it was acknowledged that\nthe outcome of the planning application would have no bearing on the Council\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s\ndisposal of the piece of land.
