Attendance by Reserve Members

To note the attendance at this meeting of any duly appointed Reserve Members.

 

Reserve Members may attend meetings:-

 

(i)                 to take the place of an ordinary Member for whom they are a reserve;

(ii)               where the ordinary Member will be absent for the whole of the meeting; and

(iii)             the meeting notes at the start of the meeting at the item ‘Reserves’ that the Reserve Member is or will be attending as a reserve;

(iv)              if a Reserve Member whose intention to attend has been noted arrives after the commencement of the meeting, then that Reserve Member can only act as a Member from the start of the next item of business on the agenda after his/her arrival.

The Sub-Committee considered a confidential report of the Corporate Director of Finance, which detailed an application under Regulation 18 of the Local Government Pension Scheme (Benefits, Membership and Contributions) Regulations 2007.

 

The officer introduced the report and explained that the application was as a result of a request for a reduction in hours under the Flexible Retirement Scheme.

 

In response to queries by Members, the officer clarified the management case in relation to the application.  It was noted that the applicant would be unable to increase their hours at a later date.

 

RESOLVED:  That (1) AT was a suitable case for consideration under Regulation 18 of the Local Government Pension Scheme (Benefits, Membership and Contributions) Regulations 2007; and

 

(2)  having determined that the application met the criteria approved by the Licensing and General Purposes Committee on 27 September 2007, the flexible retirement for the postholder under Regulation 18 be agreed.
