REPORT BY THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND TRANSPORTATION

Additional documents:

Minutes:

On 11 December 2009, Transport for London (TfL) announced that the Borough

would receive a total Local Implementation Plan (LIP) funding settlement of

£3.31million for the 2010/11 financial year, broken down into the following

Programmes:

  • Corridors Programme - £962,000
  • Neighbourhoods Programme - £592,000
  • Smarter Travel Programme - £276,000
  • Maintenance Programme (formerly Principal roads and bridges) - £780,000
  • Area Based Schemes - £600,000 (includes funding for LB Sutton on a cross-boundary scheme at Station Estate)
  • Local Transport Funding - £100,000

RESOLVED that:

  1. the LIP funding allocations made by TfL for the Transport Programmes be acknowledged and endorsed;

  1. the proposal to use the full £100K Local Transport Funding to fund the preparation of the new Local Implementation Plan, (known as LIP2, which is the Royal Borough’s policy response to the Mayor of London’s new Transport Strategy) be endorsed with the caveat that part of the £100k be allocated to other projects; and

  1. the Executive be advised that part of the £100K Local Transport Funding to fund the preparation of LIP2 should also be allocated to other projects, including funding towards potholes and other emergency repair of the damage to the highway caused by the recent adverse weather conditions.

Reason for the decision

To ensure that all the 2010/11 Programmes, including the £100,000 Local Transport Funding Programme, are fully delivered and spent within the 2010/11 financial year.
