<p class="MsoNormal">Members are asked to
consider any Personal/Prejudicial Interests they may have to
disclose to the meeting in relation to matters under consideration
on the agenda.<span> </span> If the
personal interest is a prejudicial interest, then the individual
members should not participate in a discussion on the matter and
must withdraw from the meeting room and must not seek to improperly
influence a decision in the matter.</p>

<p class="mgAiTitleTxt">Standards Board Training DVD - Assessment Made Clear</p>
<div class="mgWordPara"><div class="Section1">
<p class="MsoNormal">Members of the Committee will be invited to
watch a Standards Board Training DVD.<span> </span> The DVD is designed to help
Standards Committee members and local authority officers involved
in the assessment of complaints.<span> </span> It goes through the four stages of
the assessment process, looking at important contentious issues
along the way.<span> </span> These
stages are:</p>

<li class="MsoNormal">Pre-assessment</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Assessment</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Decision</li>
<li class="MsoNormal">Review</li>
</ul>

<p class="MsoNormal">Dramatised case studies are used to
demonstrate the criteria that guide each decision, including
whe5ther any investigation should be conducted locally or referred
to the Standards Board for England. It also shows when it may be
appropriate to take no action or other action.<span> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The DVD will take 44 minutes.</p>

of Complaints against Members of the Council.</span></p>

<p class="mgAiTitleTxt">Dip Sampling of Register of Interests (including Gifts and Hospitality)</p>

<p class="Normal2"><span>In order to test the
“ethical temperature” of the Council the Committee will
be asked to formally monitor the register of Members’
Personal Interest forms - a process sometimes known as “dip
sampling”.<span> </span>
The Committee will be asked to select a number of Members’
forms at random and will be provided with a checklist to assist
this process.</span></p>
