Winter Maintenance Review- Draft Report PDF 3 MB
Contributors
- Michael Edmonds, Chairman of the Winter Maintenance Task and Finish Group
Purpose
This is an opportunity for members of the Committee to discuss the key findings and recommendations presented in the final draft of the Winter Maintenance report. Members may also wish to ask the Chairman of the Task and Finish Group for points of clarification on any of the points raised within the draft report.
Context
The winter of 2009/10 was one of the harshest the United Kingdom has experienced for around 30 years. Due to the prolonged nature of the snow event the Government requested that all local authorities restrict the amount of salt they use in order to conserve dwindling stocks. This led to the County Council implementing emergency routes to ensure that core roads were kept open during the worst of the weather.
