The following site inspection took place on Tuesday 16 June 2009, planning reference 2/2009/0281, Erection of white PVCu conservatory with glass roof (retrospective), 20 Hazelgrove, Seaton, Workington.

To sign as a correct record the minutes of the last meeting.

H McIntosh raised the fact that she had attended the last meeting; however this had been missed off the minutes.

Agreed – that the minutes be signed as a correct record, subject to H McIntosh being added to the attendance.

The officer’s recommendation was refusal.

J Holliday moved that the application be approved, this was seconded by H McIntosh.

A vote was taken, 6 in favour of approval, 3 against.

The motion in favour of approval was carried.

Reasons:

1. Larger garden lessens impact and prominence of this conservatory. The similar property which had been refused has a much smaller garden and the conservatory proposed there was a similar size to this one.

1. Site is at end of cul de sac off a private drive, so the public are much further away from it. It is a substantial distance from the back of the footpath.

1. It doesn’t face directly onto the street.

1. These factors taken together mean it doesn’t spoil the street scene
