The head of regeneration submitted a report which informed members of Allerdales response made to the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM) – Deep geological disposal for higher activity wastes – consultation.

Managing Radioactive Waste Safely - Verbal update - Charles Homes
Minutes:
The Head of Regeneration updated those present on Managing Radioactive Waste Safely (MRWS) and outlined the main business discussed at the most recent meeting of the West Cumbria Managing Radioactive Waste Safely Partnership meeting which took place on 14 May 2009. He explained the meeting had covered a session providing members of the partnership with a basic understanding of the issues surrounding Key developments on the MRWS process and that it had been a facilitated session in 4 workshops and was chaired by the NDA, CoRWM, DECC and the Environment Agency. The meeting also covered the criteria that partners would need in place prior to being able to recommend a decision to participate, or not to, the decision making bodies and the partnership discussed the next steps in enabling a planned approach to public and stakeholder engagement (PSE). PSE will be the next key phase in the partnerships work programme.
