Members are reminded of the requirement to consider whether they have an interest in any matter on the agenda that needs to be disclosed and, if so, to declare an interest when the Committee reaches that item on the agenda.

If you wish to speak about a planning application, you must notify the Committee Support Officer, by 5pm on the working day before the day of the Regional Planning Committee meeting.  The procedure for dealing with planning applications is as follows:-

• an introduction by the Chairman
• a maximum of 3 people for each application will be allowed to speak (the applicant or his/her agent and then two other speakers). Priority for these places is given to anyone objecting to the application. You will have two minutes to speak
• Committee to discuss the application
• Chairman to summarise the debate
• Committee to determine the application

Very occasionally it will be necessary for the Committee to discuss certain issues in private.  This will only be in exceptional circumstances and for particular reasons, eg Discussion on confidential information about named individuals, contract negotiation details etc.  In these instances, the following motion will be moved and the public will be asked to leave the meeting

“That under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 the public be excluded from the meeting for the following item(s) of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as described in the paragraph(s) there indicated of Part I of Schedule 12A to the Act.”
