Energy Royd

Energy Royd is a public service, social media website about energy and climate change issues for the Upper Calder Valley. A grant from UnLtd enabled its set up in its current beta version.

It currently carries four main types of posts:

-aggregated international and national energy and climate change news
-introductory information and opinion pieces on energy and climate change issues
-local energy and climate change news stories and information
-listings of local energy and climate change activities, events, opportunities

I am working on moving the website on from its beta stage. The aims are to:

-link Energy Royd into a new, hyper-local citizen media project
-work with the Calderdale NUJ Branch and local Johnston Press to identify how community-sourced material can be generated to decent journalistic standards and reward its creators appropriately, without threatening professional journalists’ jobs and incomes
-create and screen an ongoing online drama that relates closely to the news and views content of Energy Royd
-link Energy Royd into local action for environmental and social justice
